Why this blog?

Empowering individuals to fulfil their potential is a privilege. Too few people have access to the support of professionally skilled 1-1 careers guidance practitioners, which can be transformational. There is plenty of information and advice out there- if you know where to look.  Which sources of information are trustworthy?  How do you interpret the information you do find?  Without someone to help you navigate and interpret the information and make it relevant and meaningful to you and your unique context means that sometimes you simply don’t know what you don’t know. It can be confusing and complicated!

We will each spend on average 50 years in work. Too long in my view to spend dragging ourselves to work every day, ingratiating ourselves with people we don’t much care for, looking forward only to time off. It’s not enough!

You have a unique range of skills, capabilities and talents which if put to good use could lead to more fulfilling roles. Too many people are in jobs that are not a good fit. This is a huge waste of potential, both for individuals and for organisations. Imagine how much easier and rewarding life would be if you looked forward to work each day and were appreciated for what you enjoy doing and were good at.

New job roles are emerging all the time and creating new opportunities that will need capable people to fill them. Many people are rethinking what they want from both a career and life. Some are looking to reinventing themselves. Some are looking for roles with more meaning. Others for increased flexibility in their working arrangements.

My posts will provide access to relevant and useful information sources, share advice and tips on how to succeed in the recruitment and selection process. They will address the barriers that get in the way of success. I will share links to useful online resources, most of which are free.

I hope my blog will encourage you to believe in yourself and to create a more fulfilling life.
